Just finished watching the latest DS episode, Nothing in tybw ever come close to that level of animation. Pierrot films really need to deliver to make an impact.

This battle between Gin and Toshiro really makes me think, if Toshiro was strong enough to take on Gin. In the Arrancar arc Shunsui mentions how Toshiro would be as strong as himself in about 100 years. And we know that Gin was the only one "strong enough" to "take on" Aizen. Of course when the moment comes... We know what happens. My point is, if Gin were to take the battle seriously, do we think Toshiro has a chance?

All of what you say makes sense to me but I would like to add some notes. (Keep in mind I stink at spelling) 1 both white and zongetsu seem to represent life and death with his soul reaper powers being death and white being life. I say that because look at what causes each to appear. When ichigo wants too fight which leads to him nearly dying almost every time his will to live matches with white and that could be why white "takes over" and keeps him alive where as his soul reaper powers are the reason he keeps dying or nearly dying. 2 White as you say is still growing and learning along with ichigo however he knows more because of zongetsu. When they work together to teach ichigo the final attack (not even trying to spell it) it is zongetsu allowing white to become Ichigo's center as he will no longer be around after he uses it thus the feeling of sadness ichigo feels from their blade. 3 After ichigo uses the final attack white would become his center despite this white doesn't take over as izen starts to recover not because he can't but because he depressed about losing the only one he could talk too while inside ichigo and this causes him to stop helping ichigo as he has in the past. Once zongetsu is back they both become his center together and thus ichigo's power becomes a the sky's the limit type deal. Yes he is weaker at first but being able to use them both at once is knew and thus requires being held back until he is able too so the same thing that happened when his spiritual pressure was so strong it was breaking his body. Thus the appearance of him being "weaker" as people often say he is. 4 White is not just inner hallow but someone who is growing along with Ichigo and like ichigo has his dad white has zongetsu so when zongetsu dies it forces both ichigo and white to grow up hense why he undergoes the full bring training so they can work together without zongetsu's help too do so.

You do an excellent job of describing the one-sided duel (and underlying one-way competition) between Renji and Byakuya in terms of Renji's perspective and the stakes for him. Renji is very up-front about his motives and his feelings - falling short of declaring his love for Rukia. Do you think Renji had acknowledged - even to himself - that he was in love with his childhood friend by that point? This video makes me wonder about Byakuya's perspective and the stakes for him. What is your opinion of why Byakuya chose Renji to be his Lieutenant in the first place? Footnote: Kaien's wife was Third-seat Miyako Shiba.

I’m a huge Bleach fan and waiting for TYBW to be animated was a dream come true, but C2 fights were rushed. Some of the fights that I’ve been waiting for so long went WAY!.. to fast.

This is even a narrative point as when he used it against Byakuya for the first time, Mayuri later points out that it was basically nerfed forever because it took permanent damage despite it's ability to break apart and reform. Yes, it is more of a massive weight to deal with rather than a bladed threat as seen when Chad is training against it. Or when Ichigo uses it as a stairway/ride for *some* reason in one of the Movies *so not even the top part is bladed enough it seems.* It breaking and being able to reform is more like a bare minimum trait needed to function rather than the threat it should be to enemies as a trait. It's supposed to be the poster child for Bankai basically but it's used so much and ineffective I can't even see it as such. It basically gives you reassembly and a ranged attack. The Shikai is cooler to me though! A Snake/Stretch Sword! *One that's WAY cooler than a certain lame Sue trying to use the same years later.* Now if you want to see Renji's Bankai actually *feel* like a threat well...there's what I'm gonna recommend very soon. Also I never even considered how hard Renji's Bankai must be on the animators. There were times only the head was shown though so I can feel solace in that. So with the above we'd only be halfway through the video where my commentary lines up. I came into this only wanting to see if you'd touch on one thing, and I'm happy by the end you didn't. You seemed like you were pretty close too and it was making me nervous. At this point in Bleach Byakuya really does seem almost out of character to the one we're used to in the present or later Arcs especially if you watched *all* of the Bleach anime and in turn got to spend even more time with him. He really does seem like a Heartless Menace here. Looking back you can see his more present self shine through with a single action. You see, Byakuya throwing his Scarf to Renji of all people has a *LOT* of Symbolism. As you may already know it's a Kuchiki Heirloom worth a TON and it's only worn by the Head of the Clan. Yet here he is throwing this Pure White Scarf on his bloodied Lieutenant that he himself caused. As you touched upon and got close to, Renji compared to Byakuya because his "Class" or maybe just personality has more agency. More freedom. He can follow his Heart and do what he wants. The man achieved Bankai just to attempt to beat his own Captain in the upper half of the entire Gotei 13 Scaling and save his (not yet admitted) love Rukia. That's...quite the feat and Byakuya surely realizes that. He even tells Ichigo when Byakuya "loses" he beat him with/because of his "Free Spirit." Ichigo and Renji really are similar to each other. So Byakuya tossing his scarf over him is Byakuya saying that Renji's more worthy of being the Clan Head of the Kuchiki than him for being able to follow his Heart and stick to his ideals. Which is a great, perhaps the *greatest* honor we'd never get anything even remotely similar to for the rest of the series from *Byakuya* of all people. This also starts a great narrative duality between Byakuya and Renji and why Byakuya *couldn't, never should have, and thankfully didn't die.* As he would remain narratively incomplete if he did. Y'all aren't ready for *that* discussion though. Nor is it time! 🙂

One thing you just helped me notice in Renji’s development over the series is his behavior. When he’s in the academy he’s uppity, interrupting, loud. He acts like a country bumpkin from the rukon district. After seeing Byakuya take Rukia from him and setting his sights at not only surpassing him in power but as a person as well, he begins to carry himself better. By the time we reach the lost agent arc and the tybw arc he’s gone from rude and ignorant to stoic and well mannered. He acts more like a noble, more like Byakuya the person he wants to reach. He even takes steps to hone his hakuda skills seeing as he doesn’t even draw his sword to defeat Jackie.

FINALLY WE'RE HERE 😭😭😭😭, I haven't watched the video yet cuz it's 12 am in the night rn here where I live so I'll watch it in morning, But am 100% sure that this video will be a BANGER filled with Elite level kubological analysis, anyways keep going rebirth even tho the views on this series is not much I know but i genuinely love this series and your analysis on bleach I'll be here to watch it, and am So FUCKIN excited for the future episodes, like we still have Ulquiorra vs ichigo, byakuya vs Ichigo, ichigo vs grimmjow, aizen's battle against the gotie 13 and viozards, left I CANT WAIT TO WATCH ALL OF EM, Give me all of it, okay enough yapping have a great day rebirth, peace~

Renji challenging and then breaking those taboos with Byakuya and standing up to him to do the right thing while earning some respect in the process is badass. And Renji may be a dog from the slums but he is certainly a ton more humble than 99% of the nobles. This was quite a changing clash for both and the beginning of change for Byakuya.

Byakuya was right. Renji is nowhere near ready to use Bankai.

Last I heard about BLEACH TYBW, it was being handled now by Pierrot Films. My assumption is, since we have not heard anything on cour 3 yet, I guess that means they are working on it.

I’m sorry, but I personally value the story over the animation, as well as the visual appeal over the amount of “movement”. Good animation, which WAS present in these first two cours, even if not as much as or on the level we would like, is a bonus that can sometimes help enhance the content. I’m not saying they shouldn’t focus on the animation much or at all, but I just disagree on the notion that they should sacrifice all the improvements to the story for it.

ima be honest depending on what additions are made to the anime i would actually prefer having less good animation in exchange for that. But the changes so far are not close to enough. If i was going to make that choice they would have to do way more. I'm talking even random stuff like bringing back the final getsuga tensho in the final battle but he doesn't lose his powers obviously. Stuff like that, on top of added story and lore. That's probably never happening so might as well go with the better animation. I don't think demon slayer season 3 or 4 had any particularly incredible animation on the level of uzui vs gyutaro that broke the internet but from the bits i've seen the scenery is still unmatched in anything. Bleach cour 1 had great background art but only still images. For the fights you need that moveable 3D CG environment. I believe the icy buildings were CG and they looked good but its not like the animation warranted them being 3D On that note demon slayer animation is definitely what they should aim for over jujutsu kaisen animation. Demon slayer is basically bleach TYBW but perfected. The choreography isn't as insane as JJK but they always maintain the artistic fidelity, quality of still frames and keeping characters on model just like bleach is supposed to. I prefer the look of uzui vs gyutaro to any fight in JJK and clearly japan does too since demon slayer got over double the sales JJK did when they blew up. Anyway we don't even have any confirmation anything has changed for taguchi we are going off some google translate junk. Totally possible nothing has changed in the management.

Animation is an only a short term thing in 10 years when animation is even better than it is now people are going to care about the actual story more than how it looks. Shows like Tokyo Ghoul and Soul Eater look amazing for their time but people don’t want to watch them because they’re told that the story isn’t that good (at least in the anime) It’s just a recent thing to consider 10/10 consistent animation as something to expect out of a show and most people prefer good stories and characters rather then it looking pretty

People who are complaining about the Bleach anime because it’s not fluid enough or doesn’t change enough actually just don’t understand the series they’re watching. The fights in the manga aren’t big choreography heavy battles with loads of movement, that’s not how Bleach battles play out lol

idk how office politics works but sometimes, some cases, bein demoted is good hear me out, lets say as a leitenent or first mate you work on the ship, you check with the crew to ask what they need to keep doin their job, but once promoted as a captain you have a lot more to deal with, you dealing with grand strategy, with bureocracy, paperwork, so in cases like this bein demoted means he dosent have to deal with spreadsheets, his attention is less divided into the responsabilities of bein a captain

bruh the jjk animation especially the maharaga fight wasnt even that good. It was so messy and incomplete. Sorry bruh...gonna have to disagree with a lot of your points and youre usually on point. Remove ichigos bankai for better animation when the animation is already good? Nah bruh.....

NGL i don´t think any of what was said means anything The main reason why Bleach is lacking a bit on the animation side has nothing to do with Taguchi lack of envolvement or connections it´s simply the factor of TIME. Talent and time are the 2 keys factors in producing quality anime and Bleach does have the talent it just never had the time, 10 months of production for cour 1 is enough cause there weren´t that many figths but for Cour 2 with a figth in basicly everysingle episode besides EP1 the 8 months of production it had just ain´t enough. Look at JJK they had 1 year of production and than had a break of multiple months before the Shibuya Incident started and they still had a ton of problems when it came to finishing things on time If Bleach simply had longer breaks between Cours this would have never been a problem cause the problem does not come from Taguchi´s lack of connections or ability to draw talent, even the best animators in the world can´t do their job properly when working under such time restraints Look at Cour 3, they were already on production phase before Cour 2 ended and we already know it ain´t going to be Summer reason it´s either fall or even winter season so it´s more than 1 year of prodution which is really good for 13 EPs Time is the only thing Bleach has lacked nothing else, you have talent and you have organization on a very high level already

The fight is the only thing theyy need to fix, only hatters who want bleach anime to fall say otherwise, they need story and all, NO story is fine they even add more in the anime, its great, voice acting? Still amazing, soundtrack? Come on bleach still have one of the best soundtrack in anime, u gys really sleep on shinji bankai team, quincy soundtrack and the remix? So what's the problem its the FIGH ANIMATION i repeat THE FIGHT ANIMATION, bleach still an action anime one of the biggest anime that influence others and have a big 3 status, so its action and the action fail in cour 2 adaptation, cant even compete with other series that airing that time in term of quality

I understand your take but this is Kubo we are talking about he is a contrarian he’d rather make the TYBW anime have his additions that he always wanted to add then the insane battle action even though that would make the series more popular

Hoping for the best, BLEACH deserves nothing but the best of treatments. I was never a fan of Taguchi's direction so I hope we have somebody else come in who can give BLEACH a different tone and overall better art direction (in my opinion). Plus I hope we get rid of all censorship, art should be free to express itself in all forms. I can't wait for the upcoming cours, I expect great things from the rest of this adaptation, especially in the animation department.

Paradise when from the first announcement they limited themselves to only 52 episodes in the whole arc sounds kinda ironic. I always though it's too little, and it shows... it shows when you see all these removed content, quick sped up battles regardless of the animation they are just gettin rushed treatment, barely anything get extended at that point, all for the sacrifice to add some spicy mythical content in the next remaining cours we didn't see yet. They added 0 division segment which was cool, not great but anyway they needed that and completely sidelined Ichibei vs Yhwach fight, instead of making sure both battles gets done proper justice, that's what we could get if we have 15/16 eps per cour not 13, before someone jumps at me, im not blaming team for that only the higher ups. Animation is in a weird place, saw some gengas from the cour 1 which was probably the most the most consistent season with some good names on the deck, and the gengas were way better then the final product, it's a sad thing to see. There are some sequences in the episodes, very short and brief, and then we get back to the usual stiffness with tons of zoom outs, shaking camera slides and lack of a creative touch in animation that go mostly from panel to panel, they just check them out on the big cork board and call it a day. The recent news about Kubo getting his own desk in the production is more worrying then people think, they just though so wholesome, Kubo has eyes on things, but it's just shows how incompetent they are if without him they can't do this right, simple conversation between Yhwach and Aizen in the Muken defeated them. Also... shouldn't they talk trough reiatsu or something, pretty good conept and another kinda worldbuilding moment, it was brought up at some point in the intervirew? But no, let's just unseal his mouth and eye, and they just talk. They missed the opportunity. It was never any kind of paradise from the beginning, not with that studio that i hoped was like it was before, Im sorry but this is not what i really wanted for Bleach.

I think the possibility of a Bleach remake will depend on how well the One piece remake does. I would bet almost anything that they are going to wait and see how well the One Piece one does before even attempting it.

They were rushing it. The amount of chapters they were adapting in one episode ruined it a little for me.
